Kinds of Dog Food that Nom Nom offer

Compared to huge pet food manufacturers, there are only four recipes you can choose from when it comes to Nom Nom. All of the ingredients are fresh and from quality sources, so they match the requirements of most dogs, whether they differ in age or even health.

The three main kinds of Nom Nom dog food currently available are:

  • Beef Mash
  • Chicken Cuisine
  • Pork Potluck
  • Turkey Fare

Your dog is going to be able to benefit from restaurant-grade ingredients if you decide to get a Nom Nom subscription. But the most important factor to consider when choosing between this meal delivery service and others is that Nom Nom recipes are designed with the assistance of a veterinary nutritionist.

Best Dog food offered by Nom Nom

As previously mentioned, you have more or less limited options when it comes to choosing different varieties simply because no more than four exist at this time. However, based on the ingredients featured in every recipe, we can make recommendations based on your dog’s age, health issues, as well as breed.

Considering Dog Age

While most Nom Nom meal kits available are made to match most ages across the canine realm, you should consider that puppies and adults tend to be healthier and have less of a problem digesting certain ingredients.

We found that the best recipes for puppies and adults are the Chicken Cuisine, the Pork Potluck, and the Turkey Fare. You can try the beef variety, as well, but do consider that based on your dog’s breed, you might have to give them some supplements anyway, be that Calcium and Phosphorus with Vitamin D3 or anything else that your vet might recommend.

As for the seniors, we recommend the Beef Mash as it is the only one that doesn’t contain spinach or kale, two ingredients that can be found in the other varieties and that are not recommended for pets with kidney health problems.

Considering Dog Health Issues

Nom Nom meals are generally suitable for any health problems, but it’s best to have a talk with your vet before deciding to get on the bandwagon and get a subscription. You’ll be happy to know that there are no dangerous ingredients in the recipes, and since they contain both a significant amount of meat and carbs, they make a great choice for most dogs.

Nom Nom recipes may not be suited for dogs who are undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, especially since some meals contain a fat level of 18% to 20%. Ideally, you should be feeding your dog a low-fat diet in this case.

The only point where we would have liked a bit more attention is the protein sources used for the recipes — beef, pork, chicken, and turkey are common allergens among dogs with food sensitivities or allergies, so a novel protein source like venison, elk, or even kangaroo would have been much appreciated.

Considering Dog Breed

Every dog breed in the world can benefit from fresh pet food instead of the commercial kibble and canned varieties that you can purchase today.

If you’re lucky enough to have a dog that doesn’t have obesity, pancreatitis, or kidney health issues and hasn’t been diagnosed with food intolerance or food allergy before, feel free to order your first meal kit today. Your dog will be happy and healthy from the tip of their nose to the tip of their tail if you start feeding them this pet food.

What we loved about Nom Nom

This fresh wet dog food has received rate reviews from consumers as its ingredients are truly high-quality and species-appropriate. Although most recipes already contain vegetables and legumes, the manufacturing brand also adds supplements to the meals — vitamins and minerals — just to make sure that every dog’s nutritional needs are met.

What we disliked about Nom Nom

Although this is a great choice for most dogs, there are some caveats that you should be aware of. Besides the Beef variety, the other three don’t make good options for dogs with urinary tract health issues due to the spinach and kale present in these recipes.

Carbohydrates make up more than 35% of some of the recipes, so if you have a dog that you’ve been trying to get to lose weight, this might not be the right product, either.

Moreover, there’s no claim as to whether or not the recipes are made with organic ingredients, which does mean that they may have been exposed to pesticides. The meals may also contain some GMO ingredients, such as russet potatoes. On the other hand, most commercial pet foods are like this in terms of the pesticide and the GMO risk.

Nom Nom Pricing

The cost can vary a lot depending on how large your dog is and their nutritional needs. If you have a teacup breed, you might spend just about $100 per month for the meal delivery kit, which is not a lot when you compare it to a large or giant breed.

If your dog is particularly big, the subscription might set you back as much as five to six hundred a month. Should you find that you can’t afford this option, talk to your vet about how you can make some of your dog’s food at home and supplement their diet with the Nom Nom meals whenever necessary.

Nom Nom Alternatives

There’s not a shortage of fresh dog food available online and offline these days, so you should do a bit of research before deciding whether Nom Nom’s the best option for you right now. Some of the top alternatives we have found are the following:

Nom Nom Dog Food Recalls

Until a couple of years ago, Nom Nom would have been one of the few brands with no food recalls whatsoever.

However, in 2021, Tyson Foods reported that some of its chicken might have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, and since some of that meat may have been a part of the ingredients used in Nom Nom’s recipes, the company decided to issue a voluntary recall.

We think it was a judicious decision that put pets and pet parents above anything else, demonstrating that the brand is committed to keeping animals happy and healthy.

Nom Nom Shipping & Delivery

If you get the subscription plan, you’re not going to pay anything for the shipping and delivery.
